Dozens of heads and office-bearers of organisations propagating Hinduism, leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and a few thousands of people on Tuesday gathered at the Indira Park expressing their protest at an ‘inefficient’ Congress government that had let off scot-free, the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi.

Following a call by the Hindu Raksha Samiti, the protest by members of the community started at about 10 a.m. and went on till afternoon. Swami Nirmalayogananda Bharati of Patanjali Yoga Math in neighbouring Medak district and Kamalananda Bharati delivered fiery speeches on how the tolerance of Hindus was the only reason why people who declared their hatred for Hindus and Hinduism brazenly were being let off the hook.

Leaders of the BJP, including former Union Ministers B. Dattatreya and Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, State president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad M. Ramaraju and general secretary of Bhagnagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti, Bhagwanth Rao, were among those who addressed the gathering that seemed to swell after the police closed both approaches to the Indira Park road.

Mr. Vidyasagar Rao also demanded a ban on the MIM and disbanding its membership and an effective counter with enough police assistance, to handle such situations where public representatives insulted a particular religion and the people practising it.
