Help aqua farmers in State, CM urges Centre

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has stated that the Union government has to respond to aqua farmers problems in the State.

At a review meeting on Thursday, Mr. Naidu said that the Central government has to intervene and take necessary steps with regard to aqua exports. The prices of aqua products were falling steeply pushing the farmers into doldrums. The matter was already brought to the notice of Union Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu, he said, and suggested Marketing Minister C. Adinarayana Reddy to visit Delhi to mount pressure on the Centre. State exports two tonnes of aqua products every year.

A meeting with aqua farmers and exporters would be convened on May 26 , he added.
