A fresh spell of heavy rain is likely in the State as another low pressure area formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining areas of West Bengal and north Odisha on Monday.
The system was with associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending up to 7.6 km above the sea level.
The government asked districts officials of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Adilabad, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Khammam, Warangal and Nalgonda to remain on high alert. Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, who reviewed the steps taken to face the impending threat with Chief Secretary P. K. Mohanty, issued instructions to keep the Collectors of all these districts to be ready to undertake rescue and relief operations if required.
The India Meteorological Department issued a warning that there would be heavy rains in these districts during the 48 hours beginning 8.30 a.m. on Monday.
