Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal in Telangana received a heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours owing to a depression.
Under its impact, the rivers in the region witnessed heavy flow. The depression which lay centred about 100 km from Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh would move westwards before weakening gradually into a well-marked low pressure area in the next 24 hours, according to the weather forecast.
CM reviews situation
Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday reviewed the situation, including water levels in various reservoirs and relief works, with Chief Secretary P.K. Mohanty and other senior officials.
He directed them to supply alternative seed to farmers wherever required and continue relief camps as long as required, a release from the office of the Chief Minsister said.
The release added that a total of 25 persons died in the four districts up to August 1. One person was missing in Karimnagar and a teacher of tribal welfare primary school at Dubba tanda in Utnoor mandal of Adilabad district who was reported missing yesterday was found dead today.
Houses damaged
There were 19,764 damaged houses and the crop submerged was 60,466 hectares in eight districts.
As many as 463 minor irrigation tanks were either damaged or breached.
Two teams of National Disaster Response Force were despatched to Kagaznagar and Mancherial in Adilabad at the request of the Collector. A helicopter took up rescue and relief work at Eturunagarm in Warangal where another NDRF team was positioned.
Malaria cases
Sixty two cases of malaria were reported in the tribal villages of Bhadrachalam division.
