Inflows into Srisailam dam from Jurala project and Tungabhada river swelled to 2.37 lakh cusecs on Wednesday, raising the reservoir level to 834 ft level.
The government is now planning to resume power generation from the right and left bank hydel stations which have an installed capacity of 1,670 MW.
They can generate 40 million units a day if all the turbines are run at full capacity. Inflows from upper reaches of the Krishna are expected to continue for two or three days more.
Meanwhile, the Godavari was in spate again following heavy rains in its catchment in Maharashtra.
With the Pranahita, Penganga, Sabari and other tributaries in full flow, the level at Bhadrachalam rose to 55.7 ft by Wednesday evening and it was likely to go up further. The government sounded a fresh alert in the villages lying on the river banks in Khammam, East and West Godavari districts. The outflow from Dowleswaram barrage, which fell to 15 lakh cusecs, was likely to go up again, threatening to inundate the island habitations in Konaseema again.
