Heavy downpour cheers people in Guntur

May 27, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - GUNTUR:

A sudden downpour accompanied by thunder and lightning brought the much needed relief to people reeling under heat wave in the district.

However, despite th eraninfall, the temperatures continued to remain high even during nights.

Meanwhile, District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) T. Padmaja Rani said that people should be cautioned against venturing soon after it rains since the hot fumes of air from the hot earth crest are likely to cause more damage than the surface heat.

In Guntur city, it started drizzling around 4 p.m. but soon hot and gusty winds began to blow.

But around 7 p.m., it began to rain in torrents and the downpur lasted for a few minutes.

Reports received here said that Tenali received a heavy rainfall accompanied by hot gales for more than an hour.

Places such as Repalle and Prathipadu too received a heavy downpour.
