A heart surgery was successfully performed on a two-and-half-year-old boy Amith at Apollo Speciality Hospitals in Nellore on Tuesday. A team of consultant doctors and surgeons performed the surgery. The child was suffering from abnormal flow of blood into the lungs causing breathlessness, repeated infections and cardiac failure. This was because of a life-threatening congenital disease. Medication and antibiotic drugs helped only to control the infections but the remaining abnormalities continued to be a threat to the child. As a last resort the doctors performed the surgery which helped in providing lasting cure to the child.
