The District Medical and Health Office on Tuesday launched the 12-day ‘special screening programme for children’ at 20 clusters of Chittoor, Tirupati and Madanapalle divisions to cover over 4 lakh children in the age group of one to six.

Rashtriya Bala Swastha Karyakram (RBSK) District Officer Dr. A. Sudarshan, who launched the programme at Punganur, said all Deputy District Medical and Health Officers, area officers, paramedical staff, Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) officials and Anganwadi workers had attended cluster-level meetings aimed at persuading parents to bring children to the screening centres.

The official added that children would be screened for birth defects, developmental delays and disabilities.
