A health insurance scheme is on anvil on the lines of Arogyasri for government employees in the State.
Arogyasri Minister P. Satyanarayana said the government would soon hold discussions with the leaders of the employees’ service organisations to give a final shape to the scheme, estimated to cost Rs. 350 crore annually.
Health camp held
Speaking after inaugurating a health camp for employees organised in the Secretariat on Friday by Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Association and Aware Global Hospital, the Minister said the government was contemplating to transfer the entire amount of Rs. 170 crore set aside annually in its budget towards medical reimbursement of the employees, to the scheme.
He said a separate trust similar to that of Arogyasri would be formed for the scheme.
The balance amount would be secured through contributions by staff. Talks had already been held with an insurance company to work out modalities for the scheme which would be cashless scheme as only expenditure made on treatment given to an employee would be reimbursed.
Large number of employees participated in the camp, taking consultation from specialists brought by the hospital in cardiology, urology, orthopaedics, diabetics, ENT and general medicine.
Staff to contribute
M. Hanumantha Rao and D. Murali Mohan, president and secretary of the association, said employees would be asked to contribute monthly towards the scheme.
