HC orders thorough probe into Puttaparthy trust case

Plea claims local police not investigating properly

Justice B. Shivashankar Rao of the Hyderabad High Court directed the Additional Director-General of Police, CID of Andhra Pradesh to conduct full-fledged investigation and re-investigation, if necessary, into the case filed against Ratnakar, trustee of Puttaparthy Sai Seva Trust, and take further steps.

The orders were passed while disposing of a writ petition filed by Ganapathy Raju. Mr. Raju filed writ petition complaining that the local police were not investigating the case properly and trying to protect Ratnakar in spite of the fact that several senior trustees, including a former Chief Justice of India, had exposed Ratnakar’s activities.

He said that Ratnakar used some persons from SC community to frighten him and got false case filed against him by one Sai Prasad. He said that in this false case the police are harassing him. The judge said the petitioner can approach the appropriate trial court and seek relief as provided under law in the case registered under SC ST ( Prevention of Attrocities ) Act . The Addl DGP of CID was directed to to conduct full-fledged inquiry into the case against Ratnakar even if final report is filed.
