March 28, 2014 12:52 am | Updated May 19, 2016 12:01 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Justice Nooty Ramamohana Rao of the AP High Court on Thursday directed the authorities not to declare the result to the Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) Martur segment falling under Parchur Assembly constituency, Prakasam district, as the allegations of manipulation of voters list was confirmed by the competent authority.

The judge was passing these interim orders in a writ petition filed by Ramesh and others. They complained that names of 1,800 eligible voters were removed from the list and those of 375 illegal voters were included by manipulating the computers.

The district level authorities conducted an inquiry and passed orders for rectification in February. The corrections were not carried out and now they wre being denied a chance to contest the election to MPTC and ZPTC. The judge perused the orders passed by the district Collector and others and felt it needed a thorough adjudication.

The judge said the court was not inclined to stall the election process but the results may not be announced till the final judgment in the present case.
