Gujarati gang nabbed

Kadapa Central Crime Station personnel arrested an inter-State gang which lured vulnerable people and sold spurious gold to them. The gang comprising Ramlal Sankar, Prabhu Balachand Solanki, Kishore, Lalu Samthi, Lakshmi and Konya, hailing from Gujarat, presently residing near KR Sagar in Karnataka were arrested and four kgs. of gold-coated brass jewellery was seized from them, Kadapa CCS DSP Nageswara Reddy told newsmen here.

The modus operandi of the gang was to lure gullible people that they found antique gold jewellery while digging and would show 400 mgs. of genuine gold, the DSP said. When they ascertain the genuineness of the gold and evince interest in purchasing antique jewellery, the gang members give them gold-coated brass jewels.
