Located on the hillocks abutting the shores of picturesque river Godavari, Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Devasthanams in Gudem village of Adilabad district is popularly known as ‘Annavaram of Telangana region'.

People from far flung places and Karimnagar district in general visit this temple shrine to offer prayers to Sri Satyanarayana Swamy and also offer ‘vratams' and other rituals. People, who are unable to go to Annavaram Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Devasthanams visit the temple at Gudem.

Though, the temple is situated on the other banks of Godavari in Adilabad district, it is close to historic Sri Laxminarasimha Swamy Devasthanams in Dharmapuri town in Karimnagar. All that a pilgrim has to do is to cross the low level bridge at Rayapatnam to reach the temple.

The pilgrims visit the Gudem Sri Satyanarayana Swamy shrine after having a holy dip in the river waters and climb over the hillocks to offer the prayers and other rituals. The temple shrine also houses Lord Ayyappa temple. The devotees, who cannot afford to go to Sabarimala shrine, offer prayers at this temple shrine.

Purushothama Chary, executive officer of the devasthanam, said that the pilgrims participate in the Satyanarayana Swamy Vrathams daily at this shrine. Especially, during the ‘Kartika masam' and on every full moon day, there would be more number of pilgrims participating in vrathams.

He said that the temple attained the name of Annavaram of Telangana region as the same rituals are held.

The devotees suggested that the Endowments Department should take up development of infrastructural activities such as construction of cottages for the benefit of pilgrims.

They said that the Gudem temple shrine and Sri Laxminarasimha Swamy Devasthanams in Dharmapuri on either of side Godavari river could become major pilgrims centre.
