Thousands of devotees witnessed the celestial procession of golden chariot organised on the second day on Wednesday as part of the three-day annual Vasanthotsavams at the temple of Lord Venkateswara.

The processional deities of Lord Malayappa mounted atop the blinding golden chariot flanked on either side by His two divine consorts was dragged around the sacred shrine amidst great religious ecstasy.

Devotees who had congregated all along the mada streets went into raptures at the very sight of the procession.

The air was charged with the chanting of Govinda namams by the devotees as the chariot majestically rolled by.

The divine procession lasted for more than 90 minutes.

Later in the afternoon the deities were again taken out in a grand procession to the Vasanthotsava mandapam where the priests ceremoniously performed ‘Snapana Thirumanjanam’ amid the rhythmic recitals of vedic hymns to the pulsating beat of the traditional temple drums.
