Govt. to construct flats for private employees

Decision emerges from CRDA meeting chaired by CM

The State government has chalked out plans to construct apartments for private employees working in Amaravati. As many as 1,000 flats would be constructed in three different categories at a cost of ₹494 crore, according to Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held a review meeting with Capital Region Development Authority officials on Wednesday.

Disclosing the details, Mr. Narayana said that the government would earmark 10 acres to construct G+11 apartments in the Amaravati area. The government was planning 1,200 sft (500), 1,500 sft (300), and 1800 s.ft (200) flats on no profit no loss basis. Each square feet would cost ₹3,500, he said, adding, the flats would be auctioned.

The Minister said that it was also decided to launch 203 Anna Canteens in 71 municipalities in the State. Tiffin, lunch and dinner would be provided at the canteens. Idli, pongal, upma would be served as breakfast. The cost per plate would be ₹5 for both lunch and dinner, he said.

Earlier at the review meeting, the officials informed the Chief Minister that 187 sites have been identified for Anna Canteens. Of this, 39 sites have already been handed over to the officials concerned. Mr. Naidu said, “Amaravati will attract close to 38,000 families in the near future. People will also be coming to visit Amaravati for various business and tourism purposes. We must asses all the requirements that may come up in future and work accordingly.”
