Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, celebrating his birthday amdist school children at the Puttaparthy airport on Monday, said that the TDP stands by its promise of making Anantapur District 'drought-free'.
Speaking to mediapersons, he said that it was indeed possible to irrigate every acre in Anantapur District and make it drought-free, if the dream of inter connecting rivers in the state and the country was realised.
"We have brought more than 16 TMC of water from the Krishna basin to the district through the HNSS and filled the tanks in the district with water", said Mr. Naidu even as he said that the State Government was very concerned about the completion of the HNSS project", he said. The spate of field visits by ministers to the HNSS project explains this, he observed.
Mr. Naidu also said that the State Government was actively pursuing the matter of getting the Tungabhadra Project High Level Canal (TBPHLC) lined and modernised within its border so that the district could realise it's quantum of inflows from the project.
"We will also finish the modernisation of the TBPHLC in our border at the earliest", Mr. Naidu added.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Naidu arrived at the Puttaparthy airport on a day-long visit to the district in a special flight and was received by the members of the Sathya Sai Central Trust besides the IT Minister Palle Raghunatha Reddy, Hindupur MP Nimmala Kistappa and the Tadipatri TDP MLA J.C. Prabhakar Reddy.
