September 19, 2013 03:27 pm | Updated June 02, 2016 01:29 pm IST - ONGOLE:

Students Federation of India State Secretary P. Lakshmaiah on Wednesday urged the State Government to immediately intervene and save the academic year of students hit by the ongoing stir for Samaikyandhra.

Addressing the SFI Prakasam district Committee meeting here presided by SFI District Vice-President T. Mahesh, he said it was the students belonging to the weaker sections who were hit hard by the strike by teachers of State-run schools. The students should gear up for agitation to put pressure on the government, which remained a mute spectator to the stir for the last 50 days, he said.

He wanted the government to relax the condition making seeding of the Aadhaar card mantdatory for scholarship to students as many of them had not got it yet. Only those applications with BSNL phone numbers were getting accepted during online processing of applications for scholarship, SFI District Secretary B. Raghuram complained.
