GoM “leaks” dividing Telugus: Narayana

November 17, 2013 11:28 am | Updated December 04, 2021 11:22 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The Communist Party of India (CPI) has accused the Group of Ministers headed by Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde of dividing the Telugu people as against its mandate of working out modalities for bifurcation of the State.

CPI State secretary K. Narayana made no secret of his unhappiness over the “leaks” released by the GoM that were fuelling heated debates among the people of the two regions which could result in hostilities among the people. “But the GoM had no answers to the queries,” he said.

Dr. Narayana said he insisted on the GoM to clarify whether or not the Congress could ensure passage of the Bill or would depend on the support of the BJP. Mr. Shinde and Defence Minister A.K. Antony, however, claimed that the BJP had assured its support and there was no scope for doubts on its support to the Bill.

The Ministers, however, was found on the back foot when asked whether they had some strategy to go ahead with the Bill even if the BJP backed out citing some political or technical reason.
