The Guntur Municipal Corporation is logging into Geographical Information System (GIS) based technology to shore up its revenue. Municipal Commissioner C. Anuradha on Friday launched a comprehensive GIS-based household survey at Mangaladas Nagar, the data of which can be used to raise taxes.

GMC has entrusted Darasha and Company Pvt Ltd to do the door-to-door survey; the agency which has employed 160 persons for doing the survey, is expected to complete the same by the next two months.

“There are 1.68 lakh assessments in the city and we are sure that many of them are under assessed. The revenue data-based survey will also help in locating properties on the basis of door numbers. The images of connecting roads, drains and buildings would be uploaded in the web site,” she said.
