Justice A. Ramalingeshwar Rao of the Hyderabad High Court on Friday set aside the final declarations made under the New Land Acquisition Act issued by the administration for acquiring lands in ten villages falling under Capital Region Development Authority. The judge directed the authorities to hear the objections being raised by more than 100 farmers afresh.
The judge was disposing of a batch of 15 cases filed by Gadde Chandrasekhar of Mandadam village of Guntur district and hundred others from 10 villages, including Borupalem, Nelapadu, and Tullur. They complained that the State government was resorting to acquisition of their land, though thousands of acres was with it under the pooling scheme.
‘Norms violated’
They contended that multi-cropped fertile lands, village resident sites and ‘grama kanthams’ have been notified by the administration for acquisition without specific purpose in violation of the master plan. They averred that before issuing preliminary notification, revision of market value must be done.
They raised various issues regarding social impact assessment, the methodology adopted, need for these lands, etc. The judge observed that the hearing contemplated under the Act was not fully in compliance with law.
