Online counselling for admission into B.Tech. and B. Pharmacy programmes of GITAM University commenced simultaneously in Visakhapatnam, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Bengaluru on Monday.
Principal of GITAM Institute of Technology K. Lakshmi Prasad handed over admit cards to selected students on the first day. Most of the students opted for mechanical, ECE and computer science engineering branches in B. Tech. Admission is based on the GITAM Admission Test 2013 ranks and the first 2000 rank holders were called for counselling on the first day. The vacancy position in each of the nine branches of B.Tech. and B. Pharmacy was displayed on LCD screens simultaneously at all the centres. The counselling would be held till June 17.
Counselling for admission into M.Tech and M. Pharmacy programmes would be held on June 19 and 20, Admissions Director K. Narendra said.
Prof. Lakshmi Prasad, while interacting with students and their parents said, the university was giving high priority for providing industrial exposure to the students. The university faculty was engaged in several research projects and consultancy works and some were having industrial tie ups. Experts from industry take up classes and provide practical exposure to the students. The university was preparing a strategic document for global exposure to the GITAM students, the Principal added.
Union Bank of India and Karur Vysya Bank opened stalls on education loans.
