A speeding car from Hyderabad mowed down a pedestrian and injured six others at Medermetla in Prakasam district on Monday.
The pedestrian, Kavitha (13) died on the spot as the car came on to the road margin without noticing them. The others injured were rushed to a hospital in Addanki, Medermetla Sub-Inspector A.Rajamohan Rao said.
The group of people, which was returning home for Sankaranti alighted from a Lorry from Chennai and was waiting on the Medarmetla-Addanki junction to board a Kolkata-bound vehicle to return their village on the Andhra-Orissa border when the mishap occurred.
