July 15, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:07 am IST - SRIKAKULAM:

A 10-year-old girl, Spandana, was mauled by a pack of stray dogs at Dallipeta village in Ponduru mandal of Srikakulam district in the early hours of Thursday. The dogs attacked the girl and caused multiple injuries on her face and body.

Passers-by tried in vain to save the girl who was going to paddy fields to serve tea to her grandfather.

The girl died while her shocked parents were taking her to the Ponduru primary health centre. Spandana is the only daughter of Bodi Raju and Bangaramma. She was studying fifth class in the government school in the village. It is the second such incident in the recent past in the district. Two-year-old Praneeth of Kondapuram village in Palakonda mandal died when the child was attacked by stray dogs last month.
