She was taken from Dharmavaram to Bengaluru hospital where she died

A 14-year-old girl from the district is suspected to have died due to dengue while being treated in a private hospital in Bengaluru on Thursday evening, but the officials here say that the cause of death might not have been dengue fever.

Sreeja, studying in Class 9 in Dharmavaram, was admitted to a local private hospital with fever. On the advice of the doctors she was taken to Bengaluru as her platelet count came down. The girl is learnt to have breathed her last Thursday evening. The matter came to light after her body was brought to Dharmavaram the same night.

The girl was not tested in the ELISA method and hence there can be no conclusive way to determine whether it is a case of dengue fever
