Girl dies in suicide pact, lover battles for life

Families’ disapproval to their affair said to be the trigger

A student of a private degree college died while her lover is battling for life in hospital after they consumed pesticide in a suicide pact in a garden at Pyalakurthi in Kurnool district on Sunday evening.

According to sources, Keerthi and Harish, both college mates from Krishnapuram in Kodumur mandal were in love, but their family elders reportedly disapproved it and began looking for matches for Keerthi. Vexed over the issue, they reportedly met in a garden in Pyalakurthi and consumed pesticide.

Upon information, Harish’s relatives rushed the garden and found both lying unconscious. The family members rushed both to a private hospital in Kodumur.

Case registered

Keerthi died while undergoing treatment while Harish was being treated in the emergency ward. Kodumur police have registered a case.
