Girl dies in accident at Orvakal

An Intermediate first year student, Santhi Kumari, was killed and seven of her classmates were seriously injured when a tipper lorry lost control and ploughed into a group of students walking along the roadside at Orvakal in Kurnool district on Tuesday. The tipper driver fled the scene without stopping the vehicle. The deceased and the injured were students of R.C. Yella Reddy Government junior college at Orvakal, according to the police. Mahalakshmi, Madhavi, Parimala, Mamatha, Nirmala, Sobha Rani and Sushmitha, belonging to Hussainapuram, Kalwa, Orvakal and Sakunala villages in Orvakal mandal, suffered severe injuries.
