Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has instructed officials to complete the arrangements for Krishna Pushkaram by the end of July, and come up with an action plan in a week. The Kanaka Durga temple had to be developed to accommodate at least one lakh devotees expected to come for darshan every day, he said.
Warns officialsExpressing dissatisfaction over the tardy progress of work which began six months ago, he warned officials of disciplinary action.
Addressing a review meeting on the Krishna Pushkaram here on Saturday, Mr. Naidu said priority should be given to laying new roads wherever necessary and repairing damaged ones at the earliest, as just 40 days remained for the 12-day event to begin.
Mr. Naidu said steps should be taken to keep water pure at the bathing ghats. Due emphasis had to be laid on security and traffic regulation, keeping the huge influx of pilgrims in mind. Alternatives to digging roads for putting up barricades needed to be explored, the Chief Minister suggested to the officials.
Mr. Naidu claimed that 95 per cent of those who took part in the Godavari Mahapushkaram expressed satisfaction with the arrangements, and said they should be replicated at the Krishna Pushkaram. Lighting of the Pushkar Ghats and other public places needed to be completed by August 1.
