The presence of Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu at the wedding of Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao’s daughter on Wednesday caused a stir in political circles here on Wednesday.
Observers interpreted it as an indication of Mr.Srinivasa Rao’s likely re-entry into the Telugu Desam in view of the fact that Mr. Naidu had flown down from Hyderabad specially to attend the function.
He was accompanied by a team of party leaders -- C. M. Ramesh, MP, Payyavula Kesav, MLA, former MP M. V. V. S. Murthi and former Minister Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy. Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, Union Ministers K. Chiranjeevi, Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, and Killi Kruparani and several State Ministers, MPs, MLCs, MLAs and other politicians were among those who attended the wedding which was held at the Andhra University Engineering College ground here on Wednesday morning.
Interestingly, almost all the Ministers and leaders from Telangana, barring IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, and Labour Minister Danam Nagender, chose to give the function a miss, considering that Mr. Srinivasa Rao is a strong votary of united Andhra Pradesh and has often threatened to quit the Congress if the State is divided. Meanwhile, TDP polit bureau member Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu reiterated his opposition to the re-entry of Ganta Srinivasa Rao into the party.
“Persons who change parties in every election and who are corrupt should not be allowed to come back into the party,” he told reporters.
He said that he had expressed his view to the party high command but it was up to the leadership, the Telugu Desam leader said.
The former Minister has proposed his son as candidate for the Anakapalle LS seat in the 2014 elections.
TDP leader eyes YSRC
Anantapur Staff Reporter writes: Peram Nagi Reddy, senior Telugu Desam party leader and party candidate from Tadipatri Assembly constituency for several times in the past, appears to have decided to switch over to the YSR Congress.
His move comes in the wake of reports that J. C. Prabhakar Reddy, brother of senior Congress leader J.C. Diwakar Reddy, was considering to join the TDP. Mr. Prabhakar Reddy, never refuted these reports and even publicly praised TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu on more than one occasion.
Speaking at a hurriedly convened press conference in Tadipatri, a highly emotional Mr. Reddy said that he was disappointed with Mr. Naidu and the party for trying to sideline him.
