Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president and former Minister N. Raghuveera Reddy said Union Minister for Water Resources Nitin Gadkari had little understanding about the Polavaram project.
Speaking to the media after meeting him in New Delhi on Tuesday, he said the Union Minister did not even know that all clearances had already been given to the project.
“The Union Minister is saying he had nothing to do with the project. “Doesn’t he know what a national project is? How can he say the Centre has nothing to do with it?” he asked.
The State and the Centre were playing the blame game. While Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the Centre had asked him to build the project, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the State was asked to do so at its own request. He said the Centre did not appear to be committed to completing the project as per schedule.
Rajya Sabha Member KVP Ramachandra Rao, former Union Minister MM Pallam Raju, JD Seelam and AICC office-bearer Koppula Raju and several others were in the delegation that met the Union Minister.
