Senior Congress leader and MLA Gade Venkat Reddy on Thursday ruled out crossing over to YSR Congress and vowed to fight for the cause of unified State by staying in the party.
Refuting reports aired in a section of media, which picked up his comments at Hyderabad welcoming the releasing of Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy on bail, Mr. Reddy said that movement for a unified State was launched much before Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy supported it.
The senior leader said that he would welcome all political parties to take up the cause and lend support to the employees and students who have been in the forefront of the agitation.
“Let YSRC proposes a resolution supporting the unified State on the floor of the Assembly. We (Seemandhra MLAs) from Congress and the Telugu Desam will support the resolution. I will welcome any political leader irrespective of the party who supports the cause of a united State,” Mr. Reddy quipped.
Remarks decried
Mr. Reddy also condemned certain comments reportedly made by Digvijay Singh, in charge of party affairs in A.P. in New Delhi on the ongoing agitation against bifurcation of the State and said that it was not correct to say that the movement was restricted to just government employees. Schools and colleges of private managements were closed, private transport vehicles were off the road during the agitation, he pointed out.
