Funds meant for teachers training misused: reports

April 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - Bengaluru:

Funds meant for cleaning toilets as well as food bills and travel allowance for teachers training programmes have been misused and discrepancies have been found in the bills, according to a report.

This is the second report compiled by the Education Department on the matter. Five months ago, a three-member committee set up by the department also found that the funds had been misused.

Yet, apart from issuing a show-cause notice, the department has not initiated any other action.

Both reports found irregularities in the training programmes conducted for Bengaluru Urban District Institute for Education Training (DIET) in February and March 2014. They state that there were misappropriation of funds meant for toilet cleaning, travel allowance and food expenses. However, the exact amount of funds misused is yet to be ascertained.

A preliminary report had also suggested discrepancies in the stationery bills and flower vendor bills.
