Special teams arrested four inter-State smugglers and 24 local operatives in two incidents at the ‘T’ junctions in Vurlagaddapodu of Railway Kodur mandal and Gadela ST Colony of Obulavaripalle mandal in Kadapa district on Wednesday. The teams seized 58 red sanders logs weighing 1.5 tonne (1,516 kg), two cars, two auto-rickshaws, eight motorcycles, and Rs.1,80,500 in cash from the accused, Kadapa SP P.H.D. Ramakrishna told the media in Kadapa.
Officials, on a tip off, checked vehicles at Vurlagaddapodu and arrested Syed Nizam alias Nizam Bhai alias Babu and others, and seized 32 logs weighing 896 kg, a car, an auto-rickshaw, six motorcycles, and Rs.1,80,500 from them. On their confession, they rushed to Kannegunta ST Colony and arrested Velugu Jayaram and others, and seized 26 logs weighing 620 kg, a car, an autom and two motorcycles.
