Four of a family suffer electrocution, one dies

One person died and three other family members suffered electrocution in Butcchireddyvari Gudem of T. Narasapuram mandal in West Godavari late on Thursday night.

According to the T. Narasapuram police, the incident took place in a tribal hamlet on Butcchivari Gudem, when the head of the family Thingaraju (58) was taking bath near a well in his house.

Thingaraju put towel on an electric service wire and when he tried to pull it after the bath, it fell in an iron water tub along with the wire. He came in contact with live wire and when he suffered shock, he started screaming for help. Immediately, his wife Munemma (55), brother Veerabhadrudu (57) and son Jagadeesh rushed to his rescue.

In the melee, Jagadeesh, who caught hold of the wire, sustained serious injuries. Jagadeesh succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital. Other three members were rushed to T. Narasapuram area hospital for treatment and they are said to be out of danger.
