Four killed in auto-tipper collision

Four persons, including a couple, were killed when an auto collided with a tipper lorry on NH-16 near Kattipudi Junction on Saturday.

According to the police, the auto with 11 persons, most of them parents visiting their children in a residential school in Jaggampaeta, collided with the tipper when it crossed the village limits and entering the NH.

While Nelapti Srinivas (35) and his wife Nagalakshmi (32) died on the spot, Macharla Lova (40) succumbed to injuries while being shifted to hospital in Tuni, and Badda Chandrasekhar (40) died in Kakinada government hospital, where he was admitted.

According to government hospital Superintendent Raghavendra Rao, the condition of Battula Subhashini and Macharla Simhachalam is said to be critical, while Badda Nagamani is said to be out of danger. Five other passengers of the auto were given first aid for minor injuries in Tuni hospital.
