Four held, transformer material worth Rs. 20 lakh recovered

The Madanapalle Police on Thursday arrested four persons involved in stealing of the material used in power transformers from the town outskirts and seized copper, aluminium and cable wires worth more than Rs. 20 lakh.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (Madanapalle) Rajendra Prasad told the media that the offenders had been identified as Ramakrishna Reddy, Venkatesh, Naresh and Srinivasulu, all aged between 30-35 years and hailing from Kadiri and Gorantla mandals of Anantapur district, had been stealing material used in transformers from various parts of the district for the last one decade. Despite several traps being laid and special parties formed to nab them, they managed to evade arrest.

The four were nabbed while they were trying to steal copper wires at a landholding on Thursday morning.
