In a tragic incident, four children drowned in a pond at Obulunaidupalem in the Guntur Rural Police station limits.
The incident occurred when a group of eight friends from Dasaripalem and Janam Tsunduru villages ventured into the road-side pond after playing cricket. Three bodies were recovered so far. The deceased were identified as Chukka Abhilash (15), Kanaparthy Mahesh (14), Polisetty Gopi (15) and Saiteja (15). They were all studying at Brilliant Public School in Chowdavaram. SI Rambabu said that the students were out in the fields as their school declared holidays.
