Unindentified persons murdered the former chairman of Sri Chennakesava Swamy temple committee Gundala Koulutla, 55, and dumped the body in a drain near Dhone railway station on Saturday night.

Local people spotted the body on Sunday morning and alerted the police. Dhone Circle Inspector Srinivasulu and Sub-Inspectors Ramasubbaiah and Niranjan Reddy inspected the body and pressed a sniffer dog from Kurnool into service. The sniffer dog went from the rail gate to the vegetable market, a wine shop and stopped at Kondapet, inhabited by transgenders, according to the police.
