Meet Md. Majeed, a resident of Sangareddy and a farmer. He loves birds and they have become a part of his life, literally. It may shock people, the bird lover spends about Rs. 16,000 a month on taking care of these avians. Even Majeed's family members like to live with these birds.
The entire house resounds with the humming of these different types of birds. His collection of birds and animals includes 200 pigeons, eight rabbits, two turkey birds and parrots each and a dozen hens in addition to two bulls costing about Rs. 72,000.
The task of tending to the birds begins at sunrise. Before leaving for his farm at 7 a.m., Majeed feeds the birds and attends to their needs. Later, at lunchtime, he feeds them again and once again in the evening.
His daily chore includes changing water in the bowls for them. In Majeed's absence, his son Mohd. Jani, a class IX student, takes care of these birds. If any medical requirement was there the birds would be rushed to the veterinary hospital.
“As all the members in my family love these birds, I am able to take care of them. Most of the feed required for the birds would be produced in our fields. Rarely do we go to the market to purchase feed,'' says Majeed.
