N. Vishweshwar from Chennai floored music lovers with a grand flute recital.
Santhapeta Saibaba temple here provided the right ambience for Visweshwar, an All India Radio accredited B-high grade artiste, to play the delightful Thyagaraja kritis with devotion on Saturday night.
Visweshwar, a mechanical engineering student from SSN College, Chennai, began the concert by playing ‘Chakkani Raja Maargamulundaga’ composed by saint Thyagaraja in Kharaharapriya ragam.
Visweshwar, a recipient of the Centre’s Cultural Talent Search Scholarship, was ably assisted by senior AIR artistes Palaparthi Nageswara Rao (violin), N. Kalyanram (mridangam) and G. Haribabu (ghatam).
The concert was organised by the Sarada Gana Sabha here as part of the Ugadi Navaratri Mahotsavam.
Eighteen-year-old Visweshwar, who has given over 500 flute concerts in the last nine years, was felicitated by Hindu Dharma Prachara Parishad Prakasam district president Allahari Chenchala Rao on the occasion.
