Five-member burglar gang busted in Tenali

The police on Tuesday arrested a five-member gang of autorickshaw drivers and seized valuables, including jewellery, LCD TVs and laptops worth Rs.10 lakh.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Guntur Rural) T. Sobha Manjari said the gang members were in the age group of 20-25 years.

The modus operandi of the gang was to drive autorickshaws during the day and identify locked houses and break into them in the night and decamp with the valuables.

Police said that the gang members were identified as -- Sk. Rashid, Nagur Subhani, V. Gopi, Ch. Nagaraju and Gopi Nayak.

The offences were committed over six months since the beginning of the year, the ASP said. DSP (Tenali) N. Sowjanya was also present.
