July 27, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 06:03 am IST - KADAPA:

Five members of a family were killed and two others were injured when the roof of the old house they lived in caved in at Uchvalapuram village of Mydukuru mandal of Kadapa district in the early hours on Tuesday.

The roof of the house of farmer Gurrappa caved in apparently due to the rains, which had been pounding the district for the past four to five days.

The deceased have been identified as Gurrappa (55), his wife Penchalamma (50), daughter Harita (25), grandson Narasimha (6) and granddaughter Bobby (2).

Revenue officials and the police with the help of villagers, cleared the debris and sent the two survivors to the government hospital.
