Five members of a family were electrocuted when a high tension power line snapped and fell on them at Cheegalagurki village in Vidapanakal mandal of Anantapur district.

Revanna and his three sons - Yerri Swamy, Brahmiah and Veeraswamy and grandson Rajasekhar - left for their farm in the morning and were laying a pipeline from the electric motor when the mishap occurred, killing them almost instantly.

People in the nearby fields rushed them to a hospital, where doctors declared all five as brought dead.

This is the second incident of a high tension cable snapping and causing death in recent months. In the earlier incident, a high tension cable snapped after a temple chariot hit a pole in Pedda Vadugur mandal of the district.
