Five killed in road collision

Five persons including a couple and two others of a family were killed when a molasses-laden tanker collided with a Tata Sumo near Reddipalle tank bund in Obulavaripalle mandal around Thursday midnight.

Parla Lakshmikar (45) his wife, Venkatasubbamma (42) Haribabu (15) all members of a family, and the Sumo driver, Penchalaiah, were killed instantly. Of the six other relatives injured, Yanadi Nagaraju (20), a member of the family, succumbed to injuries at Rajampet Government hospital, according to Rajampet Rural circle inspector S.V. Gopalakrishna.

While Sireesha (12), was critically wounded, four others Sudarshan (15), Sushmita (7), Arunamma (28) and Gangamma (55), sustained injuries.

Lakshmikar belonging to Reddipalle Arundhatiwada and his family members were returning from Gadela Arundhatiwada, when the accident occurred, the inspector said. It took place just one km away from their native village. Pullampet police registered a case.
