The popular verse poetry of people’s poet Gurram Jashuva mirroring the social evils found its echo at a special programme commemorating the 121st birth anniversary of Gurram Jashuva held here on Saturday.

A packed audience savoured every moment as people from various walks of life rendered the poems written by Jashuva at a programme held by Jashuva Kala Peetham at Police Kalyana Mandapam.

Addressing the gathering, former Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara University and recipient of Murthydevi award , K. Enoch, who was the chief guest, said that untouchability and discrimination found in Jashuva’s poetry was in stark contrast with the conventional literature of those times.
