First convocation of RGUKT on August 4

The first-ever convocation of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district will be held at the International Convention Centre at Madhapur at Hyderabad on August 4, Director of the IIIT Krishna Reddy said.

As many as 2,000 students of the six-year integrated B. Tech. course of 2008, the first batch of IIIT at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district, will receive their degrees from Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan in the convocation. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, RGUKT Chancellor Raji Reddy, Vice-Chancellor Raj Kumar and Registrar Somaiah would also take part, Prof. Krishna Reddy said.

Three IIITs were instituted at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district, Nuzvid in Krishna district and Basara in Adilabad district on August 4, 2008, in former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s rule with an intake of 2,000 students each, the Director recalled. Three years later, the number was pruned to 1,000 students in each IIIT.
