April 23, 2014 12:01 am | Updated May 21, 2016 12:52 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The process of distribution of files and assets of the police department in the backdrop of the State’s bifurcation was on, DGP B. Prasada Rao said on Tuesday.

Mr. Rao told reporters that the Pratyush Sinha and Kamalanathan committees would suggest modalities on distribution of All India Service officers and State officers respectively. Only 20 per cent of the State police force, comprising nearly 1.3 lakh personnel and 28,000 home guards, was being used for law and order maintenance. The remainder were mostly deployed for election work, Mr. Rao said. So far, Rs.100 crore had been seized during vehicle-checks since the model code came into force. Half the money was returned to persons who presented documents confirming its source.
