The ruling TDP and the Opposition YSRC are guilty of not fighting for Special Category Status and other assurances given in the A. P. bifurcation Act, while the BJP is the main culprit, Vibhajana Hamila Sadhana Samithi president Chalasani Srinivas said here on Thursday .

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Srinivas said the TDP government failed to form an all-party committee on the issue and the YSRC which threatened to stall Parliament and asserted that its MPs would resign, had not done so.

If they were committed to the development of the State, all the 35 MPs should resign and stage a dharna in front of the Prime Minister, he said.

If the parties did not heed the voice of people, new forces led by honest leaders would upstage them with the support of youth, he warned.

Railway zone

Even the demand for a separate railway zone had not been met so far. The Central government was planning to announce the zone just before the general elections, that too excluding the revenue-earning KK line, Mr. Srinivas alleged.

Under the package for backward areas, the seven districts in Rayalaseema and north Andhra were being given ₹50 crore each whereas all the nine districts in Telangana were getting it, he pointed out.

In the organised sector against the promise of three lakh jobs every year, not even 10,000 jobs were given, he alleged.

Instead of diversified development, concentration was on the new capital Amravati.

Mr. Srinivas said the Samithi would continue its efforts and as a part of it "Alluri Udyama Gitalu" would be released at Anakapalle on August 19.

Samithi district convener A.J. Stalin was present.
