Fight for rights, tribal people told

Retired Bureaucrat K.B. Saxena on Thursday called upon the tribal people to launch a unified struggle for the implementation of the Forest Rights Act and their rightful ownership on forests. “Adivasis have genuine rights on forests and now their rights are at question, because of the new policies chalked out by the Central and the State governments,” he said, while addressing a meet on Forest Rights Act organised by some NGOs working for the tribal population to mark the International Human Rights Day at Anam Kala Kendram here. Observing that the governments were keen on handing over the forests to private companies in the name of industrial development, Mr. Saxena said.
