Fervour marks Adi Krithika fete

The three-day Adi Krithika celebrations, which commenced with Bharani Kavallu event on Wednesday, has brought in an air of high-pitch devotion in several parts of Chittoor district, close to the Tamil Nadu border.

The Adi Krithika event, which falls on Thursday, occurs in the month of Adi (July as per the Tamil almanac) is important in all the temples of Lord Subramanya Swamy, the God of War and the younger son of Lord Shiva. Over one lakh devotees from several parts of Chittoor district left for Tiruttani in Tamilnadu, 60 km from here on Wednesday, to fulfil their vows, carrying kavadi and trekking the 365 steps of the hillock there.
