Felicitations mark Telugu Theatre Day

Marking the birth anniversary of social reformer Kandukuri Veeresalingam, ‘Telugu Theatre Day’ was celebrated on a grand scale in the city on Sunday.

Century-old theatre troupe, the Young Men’s Happy Club, and the noted theatre parishad, Alluri Seetharama Raju Kala Vedika, celebrated the day separately.

At a programme organised by the club, senior theatre artiste and playwright Kothapalli Bhaskara Rao was felicitated with ‘Dantu Surya Rao Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award’ installed by present president of the club Dantu Surya Rao.

G.V.S. Raju memorial ‘Kala Pranganam’ and Edida Nageswara Rao memorial ‘Kala Vedika’ were inaugurated on the new theatre complex being built by the club.

At the programme organised by the Alluri Seetarama Raju Kala Vedika, Pampana Dayananda Babu, Mani Bala and C.S. Murthy were felicitated.
